I think this film is superior to the original. I like the fact that it tells us more about Willie Wonka's past. I love the cinematography of it and of course I love Johnny Depp in it. I am not a great fan of the book, so I don't mind the director/writers playing with the story a bit. For myself, Gene Wilder always made me uncomfortable, though I loved many other aspects of the original film. In this one, I was not as fond of the Oompa-Loompas, but one can't have it all, right? I love having both films to watch.
