The supercomputer Skynet sends another seemingly indestructible cyborg back in time, this time to kill John Connor (Edward Furlong) himself, instead of Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). The future resistance also sends back through time a protector for John, who is programmed to follow John's commands. John's protector is identical to the first Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) which was destroyed in 1984, and together with Sarah the trio attempt to ward off attacks from the liquid metal cyborg T-1000, all while attempting to stop the impending destruction of the world via nuclear winter, called Judgment Day.
