This was an excellent portrayal of classic film noir set within the boundaries of adolescent life. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is magnificent as the ex-boyfriend caught in a game where he is just learning the rules. But although the inventive wordplay and deep mystery leave you guessing throughout the entire movie, it feels as if there is just one more piece missing (a director's cut perhaps?).
