Nick Naylor represents big tabacco. He's to spokespeople what Michael Jordan is to basketball. He's at the top of his game especially while plotting with fellow members of the MOD (Merchants of Death) squad, that includes a firearm and alcohol lobbyist. Unfortunately, with Naylor being as good as he is, he still can't get more children interested in smoking. Nick realizes the only way to get cigarettes back into the hearts (and lungs) of America is through their TV sets so he heads to Hollywood to attempt to put cigarettes back into the movie business.
