Based on Homer's epic poem The Odyssey, this film is set in the South during the Great Depression. Smooth-talking lawyer Everett Ulysses McGill leads two fellow convicts to escape from their chain gang for the promise of treasure. However, much like The Odyssey this tale more to do with the journey than the destination.
