"The Hours" is a film about the lives of three woman, all of whom are connected through Virginia Woolf's novel "Ms. Dalloway" ; Virginia (Nicole Kidman) herself, as she struggles to complete her novel while coping with her mental health, a 50's housewife (Julianne Moore) who is reading the novel, and feels so pressured by her husband's love she considers killing herself, but eventually runs away, and a lesbian woman (Meryl Streep) who is throwing a celebration party for her AIDS ridden friend in honour of his poetry award, and who appears to be living out the plot line. The story covers one day in each women's life, as they all hide the fact that they are struggling with themselves.
