The King of Halloween and hero of Halloween Town Jack Skellington has grown tired of spooks and scares. He wants a change of pace and one day finds it when he stumbles upon a forest full of doorways that lead him to other worlds. One of these doors leads him to discover Christmas, and so Jack decides that he wants to bring Christmas to his friends back in Halloween Town. It's too bad, though, that the citizens of his spooky native town only see Christmas as a new way to scare people, and kidnap Santa! Well meaning but oblivious to the fear he's about to bring, Jack continues on his path to act as the new "Sandy Claws". His rag-doll friend Sally seems to be the only one to see the error of his ways, but will she be able to stop him in time?
