over the past 65 years, people have been abducted at various times in various locations. On August 14, 2004, 4400 people were returned to either Highland Beach or Mount Reiner just outside of Seattle, Washington. Some of them came back with special abilities, which cause is later identified in Season 2. All 4400 of them were sent back to save the human race which was destined to fall.
