Teaser Trailer - What do you think of this?

Has anyone seen this teaser trailer, it was shown for me, before the beginning of Transformers. A brief overview: it's video of some party filmed with a steady cam by someone at the party, you hear loud explosions/noise about a minute in, and people start to go to the roof/outside and see an explosion deep into the city.
Anyone have any theories what the film is about?

From what I understand, the monster is supposed to be a ginat "parasite bug-like" monster. Either way, it's all we could talk about after the movie. There's supposed to be several sites that include more clues:

JJ Abrams said the Ethan Haas is not related to their movie, everyone just assumed.
I wonder what it's related to then?

I really liked the trailer. I sort of hope the whole movie isn't done as a video camera, but it may turn out well. At first I thought of Godzilla, then I quickly saw "Bad Robot" on the credits so I thought it was about a large robot until I figured out it was JJ Abrams company name. I'm thinking it's a monster movie. I heard that the specifically cast unknowns for the movie and that they couldn't see a script until they signed on.
Ya I agree, while the steady cam idea is neat. I don't want to spend an hour and a half or more watching a shaky camera. Probably the reason I have yet to see the Blair Witch. I think it's a monster movie as well, and I hope it's not Godzilla. The last Godzilla movie was nothing but lame, and I am hoping for something new.
Sorry to break this to you nullMovies, but the whole thing is supposed to be shot from character perspectives on digicams.
I don't think there was much to the trailer, it's just the fact of not knowing what it is, mixed with the way it was done that's creating all the talk about it.

For those of you who haven't seen it online, I found a copy on Youtube that was nice. I don't know how long this will stay up as they've all been getting deleted, but here you go:

they have it on apple.com/trailers

Wow, that's news to me. Two weeks ago they wouldn't let the trailer out at all. I guess they just wanted the initial shock of it for the Transformers.
Here is a news article with more information and some nice links to check out.
http://www.9news.com/life/ente...
"9NEWS Entertainment Reporter Kirk Montgomery learned exclusively on Friday from a secret source, who is on the set of the film every day, that it is not a sequel or a remake (which precludes King Kong or Godzilla). It is not Voltron or "Lost"-related."

Nice find
I just read another article (http://www.aintitcool.com/node...) that contains an e-mail from J.J. Abrams stating the following:
"Regarding the online stuff you posted: yeah, we’re doing some fun stuff on the web. But, obviously, if the movie doesn’t kick some massive ASS, who gives a rat’s about what’s online? So as you can imagine, we’re focusing mostly on THAT. For what it’s worth, the only site of ours that people have even FOUND is the 1-18-08.com site. The others (like the Ethan Haas sites) have nothing to do with us."
If you find any of these sites, don't forget to post em here.

Speaking of the Ethan Haas sites, does anyone know what that's related to?
I've done some of the puzzles at http://www.ethanhaaswasright.c... but I have no idea.

I am not really sure what it's about but it has to be regarding some movie. I am really curious to find out.
From what i read with Paramount, that site has to do with another movie they will be releasing. Not sure which one. Mike may have found it.
"The Parasite" is a aka title for the movie. So I don't know.
Found this info posted on another site.
"I've recently become obsessed with this movie and have been thinking about it, researching it, all that jazz. After some thought I've come up with a theory about the basics about this movie. And it has nothing to do with Lost.
I mean, look at what we know. In the teaser trailer, aside from the film, all they gave us was a date - 1.18.08. And, of course, the fact that it is filmed with little handicams has also been established. On the official website for it, all there is is a picture of two people with some kind of "oh crap" look on their faces. Most likely, having to do with the monster. But there also is something else in the image - a time stamp, which is usually attached to home video footage. The date and time is 12:36am, 1.18.08.
12:36 - 36 minutes after midnight. How long do you think it will take to establish the gist of the movie and get to the part where the monster goes all and stuff? 36 minutes, perhaps? The date also the the day the movie comes out. And the first showing of the movie on that day? Midnight, 12:00am.
So, put all the pieces together. The movie comes out January 18th. The movie, if the time stamp is correct, takes place January 18th. It can take 36 minutes to go from the beginning of the movie to the part where the monster comes and starts destroying the whole world. Could the movie, perhaps, take on a real-time aspect of the attack from one or more people with cameras? If you see it at midnight the day it comes out, it could be as if it is happening right now?"

I just watched the trailer on Apple's web site and in HD, I must say, the quality of the CGI is pretty horrible. According to The Totally Rad Show (http://www.thetotallyradshow.c...) the trailer was made before production even began. So this could just be a cheaply made teaser just to get hype going.
The license plate on of the cars in the trailer is "ABZ 3293".
There's a http://www.abz3293.com/ where a blog is setup with a single post requesting that if anyone knows the driver of an SUV with a New York license plate "ABZ 3293" please contact them as the driver has a family heirloom of theirs.

According to AICN, the Ethan Haas sites are marketing for an upcoming RPG called Alpha Omega.

AHHHHHH!!! I hate suspense! Why can't they just tell us already?!?!?!?!?!?
I know! They will probably have another trailer in a couple months to keep the hype going.
According to IMDb:
*Blake Lively of Accepted
*Mike Vogel of Grind and Poseidon
*Lizzy Caplan of Mean Girls
*Michael Stahl-David of The Black Donnellys TV show
*Odet Jasmin (Unknown)
Are all playing roles in the movie. And Mike Vogal's character's name is Rob.
--------------
*Paramount greenlit the project in February around the same time that JJ Abrams agreed to direct Star Trek 11.
*From "The Hollywood Reporter":
"The casting process was just as mysterious. No scripts or even scene pages were sent out; agents who were contacted were simply asked if their client wanted to be in the movie or not. Eventually a cast, made up mostly of relative unknowns, was put together; it includes Michael Stahl-David (”The Black Donnellys”), Odet Jasmin, Mike Vogel (”Supercross”) and Lizzy Kaplan (”The Class”)."
*The movie is being shot for only around 30 million, which is fairly cheap.
*Matt Reeves (Felicity) is directing based a script written by Drew Goddard (Lost, Alias).
*IGN has also reported that the movie is probably using the working title “Slusho,” which hardcore fans of Abrams’ Alias may remember as the Slurpee-type beverage that Vaughn offers to Sydney in the second episode of the series.
*Apparently there was a public notice from Paramount Pictures of filming posted last week in downtown Los Angeles. Slusho was to shoot in several downtown locations during the late afternoon to early morning hours. Here’s a description of the scene:
"Exterior dialogue. Driving scenes. Occasional traffic & pedestrian control. Camera & equipment on sidewalk, street and property. 200 extras. Military vehicles. Destruction aftermath. Weapons brandished. Emergency vehicles with flashing lights. Exterior dialogue on fire escape on 8th floor.”

Nice! Thanks for the info!
no problem.
I found all the actors on IMDb,
then searched their names on Wikipedia and Google. :)

We have a few more answers at www.cloverfieldproject.com, also, we discovered that if you poke a small hole in a business card and look through the pinhole at the www.1-18-08.com site they get a bit clearer.
A new photo was added to http://www.1-18-08.com/ Double clicking it turns it around.
Each character also has a myspace page up. It's kind of weird. They're supposedly living while we are and their pages will update until the movie and then, well it stops...
From SomethingAwful:
www.myspace.com/jamielascano - blond girl from fifth pic on 1-18-08

www.myspace.com/hudson_platt - second guy from fifth pic on 1-18-08
www.myspace.com/marlenediamond - possible blond girl from trailer. not sure yet
