Daryl F. Zanuck produced this blockbuster that launched the career of Tyrone Power. Set in the Georgian period of English history, LLOYD'S OF LONDON tells the story of Jonathan Blake, who as a young lad is given an apprenticeship at the famous insurance organization. (Lloyd's of London actually insured the film.) As a grown man he becomes an enterprising rogue who falls in love with the aristocratic wife of his rival, ultimately entering a duel with her husband for her love. In further adventures, Blake introduces the telegraph to Lloyd's and is caught in France when Napoleon orders the arrest of all Englishmen. Later still, Blake's brazen risk-taking helps the British fleet defeat France.
